shore. Nancy traveled from the Mississippi Headwaters in northern
Minnesota to Red Wing, Minnesota in 2004 and held gatherings of elder
women around a Sacred Peace Fire where they shared their wisdom.

Awards
As a result of her work in gathering stories and creating this
book Nancy Scheibe was named a 2007 ChangeMaker by
the Minnesota Women’s Press: Changing the Universe through
Women’s Stories. These awards are given for extraordinary actions
taken over the previous year to create greater equality, justice and
self-determination for women and girls. May 2008 Water Women Wisdom: Voices From the Upper Mississippi was nominated and received recognition by the Twentieth Annual Northeastern Minnesota Book Award presented by the University of Minnesota Duluth.
